Verica gets its name from the latin term "Apriga", which means "exposed to the sunlight". For this reason this hamlet can be defined "The Terrace on Panaro". Its favourable geografical position, which made the connections with Panaro valley easier, its fruitful lands and its network of roads linked with the Tuscan passes, all these factors favoured the formation of old settlement. The castle of Verica owned, for a long period, to the "Da Verica" family and was probably placed in a locality still called "Castello". S. Geminiano parish church and the Romanesque church, dating back to the XII century and recently remodelled, are worth visiting. Of particular interest are the villages of Monterastello, Monticello, Marzo, Corogno and Brocco.
