Coop. Promappennino was born in 1981, thanks to the will of some touristic operators of the zones of Zocca, Guiglia and Montese, following up a previous coordination committee, with the aim to promote the initiatives to increase tourism, through the economic association between the members. In 1990 Promappennino became protagonist, together with Comunità Montana Appennino Modena Est and Appennino Bolognese n°1, of a big project to valorize the territory, improving its activity. A revision of the statute, extended the social basis with the entrance of the Comunità Montana, of Communes and of extra-touristic operators, however interested in the valorization of the territory. Promappennino became part of the "Centro Regionale di Promozione e Coomercializzaione Turistica" constituted, later of the "Programmi Integrati Mediterranei", putting itself as a new promoter subject of touristic offers of Appenines, in close coordination with private operators and Local Organizations. Today the cooperative, spreaded out territorially both in the Modense area and in the Bolognese one, has more than 100 members: in addition to touristic and economic operators there are: 4 Comunità Montane, 20 Communes, 12 Pro Loco and a Regional Ente Parco. Promappennino is not only a cooperative with an economical character for members, even if it provides them services and advices, but also a more important reality to valorize a wide Appeninic area, placing itself as a developpement agency of the territory and a touristic promotion agency. Promappennino has its own mark, specified with the denomination "Appennino tra il Reno e il Panaro", regurarly registred and utilization. The positive valuation of the action of "Centro di Promozione Turistica", unanimously recognized, sees today Promappennino in the rewarding capacity of guide and stimulus for new regional centers, just born in other Appeninic areas.
