The Mount Cimone is the highest peak of the Tuscany- Emiliano Apennine. It is 1265m. slm high. The summit of Mount Cimone is made up of layers of sandstone, sedimentation rock made up of deposits of debris transported by water. Those of Mount Cimone are also called "turbiditi" because they were formed in the depths of the sea. Every layer is composed of coarse elements that become little by little finer towards the top. The flora of this massif is very interesting partly because there are species that are not very diffused. The peak of Mount Cimone is the seat of one of the more important weather surveys of all Europe.
