Maserno is a hamlet situated approximately 4 kms from Montese. Up to the XV century it was dependent on the Castle of Dismano and later came under the control of the castles of Riva and Monteforte (of which there still remain to this day architectural and figurative evidence). In the centre of the village stands the neoclassical church of St John the Baptist with its wooden statues by the Flemish artist Giovanni Demech, a Madonna and Child, and a crucifix dating to the eighteenth century. For nature lovers and walkers, two interesting points are the Striscialacqua waterfalls and the La Fredda biotope, where beech and linden trees grow.
