Monzone is placed on an important route that connected the castles of Miceno, Camatta, Olina, Monzone, Montebonello and Pompeano. Its historic town centre preserves still the traces of an old fortress, which was remodelled on various occasions, because of the dramatic war events it underwent. In old records, the castle is accounted with the best-equipped forts of Frignano area. It is located on the rocky height of a small plain facing Cogorno valley, which is now a vast and populated village. The church, placed in the center of the hamlet, was remodelled in 1500, but it is thought that it comes from an older one dedicated to S.Giorgio. Houses and villages worth visiting are: Casino Barattini, La Cipolla and Le Ville.
