Faeto is situated at four kilometres from Serramazzoni, at the end of a road that climbs up to a height of 869 metres above sea level. This village, far from the chaos and traffic of everyday life, and set amongst centuries-old oak trees, woodland and chestnut groves, offers the visitor an unbeatable panorama. According to popular tradition, some families from the area of Ferrara climbed up Mount Faggeto in the XV century and stayed here, setting up home and living on chestnuts and selling charcoal made from wood collected in the vast woodlands around. In the old part of the village, some of the older houses, which once had slate-tiled roofs, have portals dating to the XVI century.
Continuing for about one kilometre, along a flat road immersed in greenery, you come to the “Parco del Paradiso”, where, as well as chestnut trees, Turkey oak, hornbeam, laburnum and birch, there are beech trees and Scots pine.
